Causes of Infertility

Female infertility can be caused by a variety of conditions, including hormonal (endocrine) disorders, as well as anatomical or functional abnormalities of the reproductive organs. These may include blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, impaired tubal function, or congenital uterine abnormalities.

Hormonal and metabolic imbalances can disrupt one of the most important processes required for conception—ovulation.

Ovulation is the process by which a mature egg is released from the ovary and becomes available for fertilization. Fertilization occurs in the fallopian tubes, where the sperm and egg meet. Therefore, healthy, patent fallopian tubes are essential for natural conception.

An anatomically and functionally normal uterus is equally important, as it provides the environment where the fertilized egg (embryo) implants, develops, and grows throughout pregnancy.

Certain forms of infertility may also result from immunological factors, which can interfere with fertilization or embryo implantation.

Approximately 35% of infertility cases are attributed to male factors, highlighting the importance of evaluating both partners during the fertility assessment.

In some couples, even after a comprehensive evaluation, no specific cause of infertility can be identified. This is known as unexplained (idiopathic) infertility.

Stress can also play a significant role in reproductive health. Successful conception depends on the coordinated function of multiple body systems, regulated by the hypothalamus, a key center in the brain that controls the endocrine system. Chronic emotional stress—particularly the disappointment associated with unsuccessful attempts to conceive—can disrupt hormonal regulation, potentially contributing to both functional and physiological reproductive disorders.

At Gagua Clinic, we offer a comprehensive infertility evaluation using state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and advanced laboratory technologies to identify the underlying cause of infertility. We provide the full range of modern fertility treatments tailored to each patient's individual needs.

Patients who achieve pregnancy at our clinic continue their prenatal care under internationally recognized clinical protocols, receiving comprehensive monitoring from the earliest stages of pregnancy through childbirth and the safe arrival of their newborn.
