Newborn Daily Routine

Newborn Daily Routine

During the first days of life, babies spend most of their time sleeping and usually wake only for feeding. On average, newborns sleep 12 to 18 hours a day. As they grow, the total amount of sleep gradually decreases. However, every baby is unique and develops their own sleep pattern.

It is helpful to establish a consistent bedtime routine by putting your baby to sleep at the same time each day and following familiar bedtime rituals, such as reading a story or singing a lullaby. This helps your baby fall asleep more easily.

Your baby should be comfortable while sleeping. Dress them in appropriate clothing and use suitable bedding. The baby's mattress should be firm and flat. Always place your baby on their back to sleep, never on their stomach.

The crib should be free of soft bedding, loose blankets, pillows, stuffed toys, or any unsecured objects, as these may increase the risk of injury or suffocation.

Outdoor Walks

You can begin taking your baby for short walks, starting with 5–10 minutes, and gradually increase the duration over time.

Avoid going outside during very cold, windy weather, and in the summer, do not keep your baby in direct sunlight for long periods.

At the same time, remember that moderate exposure to fresh air and sunlight is beneficial for your baby's health and plays an important role in vitamin D production and the prevention of rickets.
