Laparoscopic Surgery Through a Single Small Incision Instead of Four
Single-Port Laparoscopy at Gagua Clinic
Laparoscopic surgery has been successfully performed in Georgia for many years. In gynecological laparoscopic procedures, several small incisions are usually made on the anterior abdominal wall. In certain cases, however, surgery can also be performed through a single incision.
Gagua Clinic has introduced Single-Port Laparoscopy — a minimally invasive surgical technique performed through only one access point.
Until now, standard laparoscopic gynecological operations typically required 3–4 small incisions. One incision is used for the trocar, through which a camera provides visualization of the surgical field, while the remaining incisions are used for working instruments. Since several access points are involved, the procedure is usually performed by two surgeons using multiple instruments.
The main difference with single-port laparoscopy is that one port is placed through the navel, allowing all instruments to be introduced through a single small incision. The operation is still performed by two surgeons, but through only one access point, making the procedure even less invasive and offering a more aesthetic result.
